Hello everyone! Welcome to my blog about my life, photography props and DIY ideas to create your own unique pieces. My name is Deb Lauderdale. I am married to my husband Tony, a mom to a teenage. I love to do crafts or anything creative when I have spare time. I have been an emergency department nurse/pediatric urgent care nurse and I recently quit my job so I can focus my time on helping you create beautiful pictures. Being an ED nurse for so long gave me many skills including being able to speak 3 languages. English, swearing and sarcasm!! Don't say I haven't warned you. LOL. One of the things I say all the time is "I don't drink, I don't smoke, so damn it I'm going to curse." I started in an adult ICU for my first 3 years of nursing. I just recently realized that I have been a nurse for a larger portion of my life than not! So crazy! How am I that old already! These past 20+ years have gone by quickly.

At one point in my life, I thought I wanted to be a part-time photographer. While I love meeting new people and taking random pictures on my phone or camera, I quickly realized that I'm not that good. I also hated all the time it took to edit photographs afterwards. Considering those are the 2 largest parts of being a professional photographer, that dream probably wouldn't come true. LOL. I did however love the creative outlet of designing the set-up and "feel" of the session. With this realization, I had the brilliant idea of creating a business for professional photographers (or anyone who like to do their own photos) to be able to rent all types of photography props and helping them come up with the perfect photo setup.

Buying all your own props gets expensive. And where in the world do you store all of your beautiful props without taking up your entire house? Renting saves you money and keeps your studio or house neat and tidy. It also makes it so you never have to use the same props twice if you don't want to!

What's this blog about anyway?

The purpose of this blog is to help spark creativeness in you! I plan to share about my journey of opening Properly Posed, posting ideas for unique photo set-ups and ways to make your own unique and beautiful props. I have never done a blog before so we can learn together! Let me know if there is anything in particular you want to see or have me write about. My goal is to write a post about once a week.
